Microsoft embracing ODF

Microsoft supporting ODF.

And what's that? The standard that had all those 'irregularities' making computer groups in the UK and Norway go up in arms, cannot be supported by Microsoft at this point?

Comments:

That's good news :) Finally the battle is won.

Unfortunately just the beginning of a series of battles... But a good beginning and one that underlines the power of governments mandating digital standards.

Note the specific reference to ODF 1.1, which is the actual version of the format OpenOffice 2.4 uses. OpenOffice 3 will have moved to ODF 1.2, which should be the next ISO-approved version. Luckily Microsoft lagging behind in versions will not be a compatibility issue as ODF, being a properly developed and designed document standard ;), is backwardly compatible between versions.

Time to update the http://iso26300.info page(s)?
